What this site knows about you

Very little, and nothing that could identify you.

What is measured

When you open a page, the site notes that a page was opened, which one, from which country, and how far down you scrolled. To tell two pages of the same visit apart, your browser draws a random number that dies with the tab. That number is tied to nothing: not to your address, not to your device, not to any earlier visit.

These measurements are written at Cloudflare (Analytics Engine) and read back here to know what is being read. They contain no IP address, no browser fingerprint, no cookie.

What is not done

No cookie is set. No profile is built. No data is sold or handed to any advertising third party. If your browser sends “Do Not Track” or “Global Privacy Control”, nothing is measured at all.

If you write a comment

This is the only place where the site asks you for anything, and it only asks if you write. Three fields: your name, your email address, your text.

A message is sent to confirm. Your comment only reaches Jean-Michel after you have clicked the link you receive — without that click, it is forgotten after 48 hours. That message is sent through Resend, from the address [email protected] (Jean-Michel’s other site, used as the sender). Resend therefore sees your address in order to deliver that one message.

Your email address is never published. It is there so that Jean-Michel can reply, and for nothing else: no newsletter, no sharing with anyone. It does not enter the site: it stays in the queue, at Cloudflare, and disappears from it after 120 days at the latest — or as soon as your comment is accepted or set aside.

Your name and your text will be published under the post, if Jean-Michel accepts your comment — nothing appears automatically: he reads first.

To keep robots at bay without putting a test in your way, the form looks at three things: a hidden field you cannot see and they fill in, how long you took to write, and how many messages came from your connection within the hour. That last point means keeping a counter tied to your IP address for one hour; it only counts, and it erases itself.

Write at any time to have a published comment removed: it will be removed.
